Main Tasks & Challenges

After analyzing the existing JAMSNext website, understanding the intention, and observing competitors, there were 3 main ideas that needed to be focused on.

Understanding the Existing Product

The platform is built for two parties: applicants and recruiters.

Applicants

The Job Tracker

9 Columns where job seekers can keep track of jobs they've applied to and the status of where each application lies.

- Should sync with recruiter tracker for real time updates

The Resume Builder

Section where applicants can easily drag and drop parts of previous resume to create a new tailored resume without copying and pasting.

- Includes checklist feature that "grades" resumes based on keyword matching with job post

Recruiters

The Applicant Tracker

8 Columns where recruiters can keep track of applicants that have applied to and the status of where each application lies.

- Should sync with applicants tracker for real time updates

The Job Box

A place where recruiters can see all their current job post openings and easily share the listing with a click of a button

- Each job navigates the recruiter to it's own tracker with different applicants

Rebranding JAMSNext

Colors

Blue represents trust and instils security and honesty which is important for the company to provide to build a strong foundation of users.

Green represents luck and revitalization to inspire users feelings of insight and hopefulness in their journey to find the ideal job/candidate.

Colors hexes are shifted to establish a more bright and modernized outlook while keeping that meaning of trust and professionalism.

Typography

Previous typography consisted of multiple variations of Monserrat. The font was wide and not the best to use for providing sufficient spacing between each elements. Poppins was chosen to replace this, paired with a complementary font, Satoshi, for headings to establish hierarchy and condense width space.

Assets

Unique icons were created to enhance and contribute to the new branding foundation.

Redesigning the Forefront

About Us

Redesigning Existing Pages

Job Tracker

1. Navigation bar's height takes up too much space that can be used to maximize the tracker

2. Job card height is too large where only 2-3 cards can be shown at a time, making it inconvenient for users to scroll for older information

3. Users have a hard time reading sideways text when columns are collapse

1. cards were condensed to allow more cards to be shown at once. Additional details, such as location, was added for more transparency

2. Button to conveniently "collapse all" columns.

3. Column icons and hover text were added so users would have a cleaner interface while still understanding what each collapsed section represents

4. Included filter, sort, and list view for users to rather than just having a single search bar for filteration

Resume Builder

1. Navigation bar's is inconsistent with the other existing pages on the website

2. Tabs are hard to read because of the background color behind the dark text in addition to the sideways text

3. Horizontal scroll for longer texts makes the users frustrated to go back and forth to read and is not user-friendly

1. Sections were contained for separation and understanding that the information can be added with a click or drag-and-dropped

2. Tabs were moved to top for better visibility and colored icons replaced colorized tabs

3. Text is wrapped to remove horizontal scrolling

4. Included score and evaluate CTA to automatically generate a score rather than having users checking each item and adding points themselves

Job Box

1. Information is scrunched up and use white space surrounding it could be maximized to provide more transparent information or provide more spacing between each item

2. Colors are not consistent with branding and white text on bright colored backgrounds are not perceptible for some users who may have a hard time with colors. Too many buttons are present and users may accidently click an action without intention

1. Additional vital information and indications for new activity are added for transparency at first glace

2. Archive bin for recruiters to no longer see old postings, but can quickly retrieve it if they wish to do so

3. Only frequently used buttons are present, rest is condensed into an ellipse menu for a cleaner interface. Quick status popup was included for recruiters to conveniently close, pause or reactivate posting without having to click edit

Current Site and Figma File...

My time in "JAMSNext" has ended, and the company has rebranded since then with a new direction.

Before I left I was able to design more features and pages and I am proud of my contribution during my time at JAMSNext.

Additional case study information will soon follow regarding these additions.

I am super enthusiastic to share our current website (that still has bit of the features I designed)

and the Figma prototype that I started from scratch.
